Specialty Signs
Signs have a distinct way of cutting through visual noise—connecting with us on a visceral level. When thoughtfully designed, they do more than inform; they become part of the environment, weaving together story, streetscape, architecture, and history.
Shane Durnford is a master signcrafter with decades of experience. Every sign is fully designed and built by hand—shaped through years of practice and guided by a deep understanding of visual presence and place.
To ensure each piece receives the attention it deserves, I take on a limited number of signcrafting projects each year. Early inquiries are welcome, and I also offer design-only or consulting services for projects that may not require my fabrication.
Landmark & Gateway Signs
Iconic signs that define place and create lasting impressions.
Landmark signs are bold, sculptural, and designed to stand out—marking important locations with artistry and presence. These signature pieces serve as visual anchors, guiding visitors and embodying the spirit of their surroundings.
Historic Signs
Signs that carry memory and belong to place.
These works are shaped with care and reverence—for the stories they represent and the spaces they inhabit. Designed to feel timeless, they honour what came before while quietly holding their place in the present.
Retail and Business
Signs that capture attention and attract the right audience.
These signs combine craft, context, and clarity to guide visitors and reinforce identity. Every piece is designed to feel right in its place—distinctive, durable, and appealing to the people you want to reach.

Signs of Creemore
A Village Marked by Craft
For more than two decades, the village and I spoke in signs — a slow, lasting conversation between craft and place.
Creemore, Ontario has long been known for its charm — the architecture, the pace, the people. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of designing and crafting many of the signs that quietly shape how this place is seen and felt.
