When I was a kid, my mom would tell me to stay away from the deep puddles. Even though I hated getting "soakers" I couldn't help myself from testing the waters. Without fail I would venture too far and cold spring water would spill over the top and into my rain boots.
Committees remind me of those puddles. No matter how harmless they appear, you can still get a good soaker. And as with with finding yourself in waters that are over your boots, there is no pleasant way out.
